Original Research Paper Clinical Profile of Children with Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia and Factors Predicting Poor Response to Initial Treatment
نویسنده
چکیده
Childhood immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune bleeding disorder. Most children recover with initial treatment, but the individual course is hard to predict. The objectives were to study the clinical profile of children with Primary ITP and to identify factors that may predict poor response to initial treatment. Methods: It is a retrospective & prospective study done in a tertiary hospital. 29 Acute ITP & 26 Persisting/Chronic ITP cases are studied. Results: Acute ITP group was characterized by younger age of onset(p=0.003), duration of symptoms at presentation <2 weeks (p <0.001) and relatively high absolute lymphocyte count(p=0.019). Children in chronic ITP group had presented at older ages with low absolute lymphocyte count. However, the difference was statistically insignificant.

Clinical Features and Treatment Outcomes of Primary Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura in Hospitalized Children Under 2-Years Old
Abstract Background Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is the most prevalent cause of thrombocytopenia in children. Despite the importance of ITP in children under 2- years old, only a few publications are available in the literature. ITP usually presents itself as isolated thrombocytopenia and mucocutaneous bleeding. Materials and Methods T...

Background This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) and combination of IVIg and Methylprednisolone for childhood Idiopathic (autoimmune) Thrombocytopenia (ITP) treatment; in addition investigate the related factors to develop chronic form of under 15 years ITP. Materials and Methods This retrospective study conducted on 88 ITP patients that treated wit...

Background: The goal of antivenom administration for snake-bitten patients is to achieve therapeutic response (initial control), which means reversal of the venom-induced effects through neutralizing the venom. The aim of this study was to identify snakebite prognostic factors of weak therapeutic response prior to antivenom administration. Methods: This was a retrospective study of patients wit...
متن کاملTherapeutic Plasma Exchange in Pediatric Severe Immune Thrombocytopenia: A Case Report and Literature Review
Treatment of severe Immune Thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) accompanied by life-threatening bleeding events is challenging and a combination of treatment measures should be undertaken to rapidly increase the platelet count. Herein, we report a case of severe ITP in a seven-year-old boy who suffered from massive bleeding which was totally unresponsive to conventional therapeutic interventions. Sin...

Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) as a malignant tumor presents with lymphadenopathy and systemic complaints. The origin of this tumor is mostly suggested to be B lymphocytes. There is a close relationship between autoimmunity and HL, but the mechanism of this immune syndromes is unclear. Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is the most common autoimmune syndrome which may present before, at the same time, and ev...
